They say there’s someone for everyone, which is undoubtedly true about carpet cleaning companies.
When choosing a carpet cleaning company in SW Florida, it’s essential to understand the different types available and what they offer so that you can choose the right one for you and your family. Some carpet cleaning companies are “fly by night” or “bait and switch artists.” Some don’t have the proper insurance, so if they break an item, damage your home, or if one of their employees slips and falls, you may be holding the bag.
And, of course, there are also reputable carpet cleaning companies. They run back ground checks on their employees annually, maintain general liability and workers compensation insurance, invest heavily in technology and training for their technicians, and have good reviews with Google, Angie’s List, the Better Business Bureau and other vetted consumer reporting agencies.
Let’s look at the different categories.
Bargain Cleaners: These companies often use substandard equipment and cleaning solutions, resulting in mediocre results. Their prices may seem appealing, but typically lack general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Their technicians are rarely certified, and background checks are not a priority. They do not deliver the “cleanest, clean” possible and often leave dirt-attracting residues behind, causing your carpeting to resoil rapidly.
You often see their ads on the side of the road, on telephone poles, or in “clip and save” coupon books. Their pricing is usually half of what most other carpet cleaners charge, and bait-and-switch is commonplace. To see how many operate, check out this undercover video by ABC News.
You can’t get quality at the cheapest price; it doesn’t work that way.
Dry Cleaning and Bonnet Companies: Typically offering” dry within minutes” services, these cleaners use the bonnet or dry-cleaning method. This technique only removes surface dirt and fails to tackle deeper issues like dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and deep-set soils. The process involves sprinkling or spraying a residue on the carpet and vacuuming or using a buffer to recover surface soil. This is NOT a thorough, deep-clean process.
Some carpet cleaning companies use bonnet and dry cleaning because it’s inexpensive to start a business, easy to learn, and allows them to rush in and out of a client’s home while purporting a deep clean that “dries within minutes.” Nevertheless, while these cleaning services are suitable for general maintenance and surface spot cleaning, this carpet cleaning method is not recommended for many of the above reasons. It’s “quick and easy” for the carpet cleaning company but not a thorough process as defined by carpet manufacturers, the IICRC, or the CRI. Plus, it’s bargain-priced (and should be since it’s a “surface clean”), and the consumer gets what they pay for.
Tru-Clean Surface Care: We use the industry’s most recommended cleaning method. Steam cleaning (or hot water extraction, as it’s called in the industry) is the most thorough carpet cleaning method. It is recommended by major carpet mills, the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC), and the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI). Tru-Clean Surface Care uses this technique coupled with industry-leading cleaning solutions and powerful truck-mounted equipment to ensure the deepest clean possible. Our certified, experienced technicians guarantee a high-quality service every time, and we have one of the strongest service guarantees in the industry.
