Slip Resistant Flooring

Slip Resistant Flooring

Slip and falls on wet tile floors are dangerous and sometimes fatal.  Falls account for over 8 million hospital emergency room visits annually and can be particularly devastating for people aged 55 years and older.

Serious hip fractures, broken bones, and head injuries are the most serious injuries attributed to slip, and fall accidents in the home, and half of all accidental deaths in the home are caused by a fall at ground level, and not from an elevation such as ladders and stairs.

Don’t risk it – apply a slip-resistant coating!

Did you know?

For people, 65-84 years of age, falls are the second leading cause of injury-related death and represent over 40% of all nursing home admissions – National Institute on Aging and the NFSI

Tru-Clean Surface Care Can Help Make Tile Floors, Bathtubs, and Wood Floors Slip Resistant

One of the greatest concerns children of snowbirds have for their parents who enjoy the winters in sunny SW, Florida is worrying about them slipping on wet floors in their bathrooms and kitchens.  We also have commercial clients such as nursing homes, commercial buildings, and restaurants who worry about patron slipping and seek a reliable solution to help make their tiled areas more slip-resistant.

To help address the safety concerns of slippage in wet areas, we offer two different services, residential and commercial, designed to make wet areas less dangerous and help prevent dangerous slipping that can lead to devastating accidents.

How does our product make surfaces slip-resistant?

One product applies a microscopic bonding agent to the treated surface.  When water or other liquids are present, and your foot or shoe comes into contact with the treated area, friction is applied, making the area slip-resistant.

The other agent is an advanced floor treatment that microscopically etches an invisible tread designed to apply slip resistance.

Both products provide superior slip protection, and a recommendation can be made once the flooring is inspected by one of our professional technicians.

How long will the slip resistance last?

3 to 10 years, depending on the product chosen and proper maintenance

How long before I can walk on my flooring again?

Approximately 30 minutes after application.

Can you tell that a floor has been treated once the service is completed?

Once the product is applied and depending on the quality and manufacturing process of the surface treated, there is a slight possibility that you may be able to see a tell-tell sign that the flooring has had protection applied.  To most people, this protective tread is not noticeable. The bottom line is, the client must weigh the benefit of the product vs. the possibility that it can be seen and then decide if the peace and mind and safety is worth it.

What surfaces can you help provide slip resistance?

We can help to provide slip resistance to ceramic and porcelain tiles, terrazzo, granite, marble, travertine, cement, slate, bathtubs and shower flooring, and wood floors.
