Another tactic that shocks the conscience and many consumers have regretted doing is paying the carpet cleaner BEFORE the work has been done.  A quick Google search reveals a local carpet cleaning company demanding CASH payment IN ADVANCE for services and then leaving the consumer with less than desirable results.  Once you’ve paid in advance for service the carpet cleaner is under no obligation to make sure you’re satisfied with the quality of their service (or lack thereof).
