Our Natural Stone Cleaning Process

  1. Pre-Inspection

During the pre-inspection process, we analyze the condition of your hard surfaces, take measurements, and determine a customized care plan to meet the specific needs of the client.

  1. Area Preparation

Because your home is important to you, it is important to us.  We will take the necessary precautions to protect your possessions during the restoration and cleaning processes.

  1. Cleaning

Cleaning Processes vary from floor to floor; many variables include make-up, maintenance, soiling conditions, traffic, scratches, use, etc..  When cleaning stone surfaces, we use the most scientifically advanced cleaning products available coupled with a thoroughly exhaustive machine honing or hand scrubbing and brushing.

Upon successfully achieving the perfect honed finish, we rinse the stone with a rinsing tool, connected to a truck-mounted hot water extraction system.  This powerful rinsing action will help us achieve maximum soil removal and the best overall cleaning results.

  1. Diamond Grinding

A stone surface that is etched, scuffed, and scratched can be restored only by the use of mechanical abrasives underneath a rotary machine. Diamond abrasives resurface and remove a slight amount of stone (just enough to get below the etch marks and scratches). All diamond grinding is performed with the use of water to contain dust. We offer many different levels of finishes, from matte to high gloss, and will work with the client to make certain we deliver the surface that’s just perfect for them.

Marble is softer and more porous than most stone; it not only scratches easily but also etches with ease. Marble is sensitive to acids in many different food items (including citrus products, sodas, etc.) and the cleaning agents in household cleaners.  Special consideration and honing procedures are used to restore marble.

Just like ceramic tile, natural stone is one of the most abused and overlooked floor and wall surfaces in the home simply because of the care involved in cleaning it. An etch mark in a polished marble or travertine floor can be a constant reminder that grandmother wasn’t always right about the merits of cleaning with a solution of vinegar and water.  (NOTE:  NEVER use vinegar on natural stone surfaces)!

The good news is Tru-Clean Surface Care can make your floors, countertops, backsplashes, and shower stalls look great again.

Whether you have natural stone in your kitchen, bathroom, living room, or some other area of your home, those stubborn stains and etch marks don’t stand a chance with Tru-Clean. Your natural stone will look very much as it did the day it was installed.

At Tru-Clean Surface Care we are dedicated to helping you keep your home healthy, clean, and always looking its best. The solution to difficult natural stone honing, polishing, cleaning & sealing is just a phone call away.

  1. Honing

Stone is mechanically resurfaced using diamond abrasives and water to achieve a uniformly honed surface sheen. In some cases, polished marble, granite, travertine or limestone can be mechanically honed to remove pre-existing surface polish.

  1. Polishing

Stone is mechanically finished to produce a high gloss shine. Very light etches, scuffs and scratches are removed with the polishing process, but diamond grinding is needed if the stone surface has medium deep etches, scuffs and scratches.

  1. Sealing

Sealing is the last step in the stone cleaning process. Depending on the sealer chosen, we will use a heavy-duty professional grade sealer to protect your stone.

  1. Post Inspection

We will do a walk-through inspection of the areas before we leave your home and give you some tips on how to maintain your stone.  We will also leave you with a gallon of concentrated floor cleaner to help maintain the beauty of your freshly restored areas.
