NEVER allow a carpet cleaning company to “clean” your valuable Oriental, wool or silk area rug in your home. To effectively clean these natural fiber rugs they MUST be dusted, hand-washed and placed in a controlled drying environment to ensure proper cleaning and to avoid damage, color bleeding or shrinkage to your rug.
Another thing to watch out for is allowing a carpet cleaning company to take your rug with them if they don’t have a specialized carpet cleaning facility. Too often carpet cleaning companies will lead you to believe they have a specialized plant only to take them back to their shop and clean your valuable rug in a parking lot or driveway.
