Cleaning, Sealing and Rejuvenating Your Granite
Granite, one of the world’s hardest materials, is a stone of choice for floors, kitchen countertops, and more, not only because it is gorgeous, but because it is resistant to most acids, very durable, and easy to maintain. Even so, granite is not impervious to damage. If your granite is dirty or dull-looking, scratched, etched, cracked, chipped, or otherwise damaged, Tru-Clean Surface Care can make it look brand new again!
Much harder than marble, granite is a rugged and resilient stone that requires specialized knowledge and equipment to restore. We understand granite’s unyielding personality and have the right tools and techniques to get it looking its absolute best once more. From minor services like having your granite cleaned and sealed to major services like a complete granite floor or granite countertop repair and restoration, our professional technicians can perform these services for you.
Granite Honing and Polishing
Do your granite floors or countertops have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, or other damage? We can hone and polish your granite surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new granite surface free of damage. Our expert technicians can achieve a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth, or a highly polished surface.
Impregnating / Sealing Granite Surfaces
Some natural stone types are more porous than others, and the more porous a natural stone is, the more susceptible it is to staining. Granite tends to be very porous. To inhibit staining we recommend that it be sealed. We use very high quality, professional-grade sealers.
Deep Cleaning Your Granite
Granite cleaning processes vary based on the surface condition and type of dirt, oil, or other contaminant being removed. Granite is easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services that utilize non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. We can assist you in not only cleaning your granite surfaces, but in keeping your granite properly polished, maintained, and free of scratches to help make regular cleaning and care of your stone easier.
Granite Stain Removal
Our professional technicians are experts in removing discolorations and stains on granite. Whether you want guidance in do-it-yourself granite stain removal or prefer to have us remove your granite discolorations for you, the original color of your granite can most likely be restored.
Granite Repairs
Do you have chipped granite countertops? Are there cracks in your granite floor? What about broken granite tiles? Before you replace your granite, consider having us provide expert granite repair services. We can fill holes in granite and fix granite cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and conclude by honing and polishing your granite floor, countertop, or other granite surfaces to create a uniform finish.
Scheduled Granite Maintenance
We provide regularly scheduled maintenance services so your granite floors and other granite surfaces can look great all the time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much dust will be created during the restoration of my granite countertop?
A. There is no dust created during the restoration process because we use diamond abrasives and water.
Q. Recently a cleaning firm spilled a cleaner that is obviously acid on my granite vanities. They were sealed, but the damage is still very evident in the form of hundreds of small circles. What would you recommend as a way to repair them, the materials to use, etc? Would it be better to replace the vanities?
A. This is something we hear way too often. Granite can be sensitive to acid etching and improper cleaners can damage it. Impregnating sealers do a great job of protecting your stone from staining agents being absorbed into the stone but they cannot prevent acid etching on the surface. The good news is that you do not need to replace your vanity tops. We can rehone and polish the damage and restore your granite vanity tops to good as new.
Q. My granite countertops are no longer shiny. How do I get the shine back?
A. Most of the time when a customer asks us why their countertop is not shiny anymore, it turns out that some sort of film is sitting on the surface. This can be a result of sealer that was not properly applied, when one does not use the proper cleanser, or when they clean their granite surface with water and dish soap. (This will eventually lead to soap film build-up.) Give us a call. We can provide solutions for you.
Q. Why won’t the water spots on my granite clean up?
A. These are likely not water spots, but an etch mark on the surface of the stone. This is what happens when an acidic substance comes in contact with any calcium-based stone. To get rid of the etch marks, the stone will need to be polished out, much like a gemstone would have to be if it were scratched.
