How To Deal With Pet Urine In Carpeting In SW Florida

Thoroughly Exhaustive Pet Urine Treatment By Tru-Clean Surface Care

Urine in carpeting is a severe problem that requires professionals’ help, not a store purchased solution from your local grocery or hardware store. Pet urine solutions purchased at your local pet supply or grocery store can be effective on fresh “surface stains” but are ineffective on deep-set bacteria caused as a result of prolonged urine contamination that resides in your padding and subflooring.

Facts You Need To Know About Pet Urine In Your Carpeting:

Urine deposited on carpet does not stay there; it penetrates the fibers and contaminates both the backing of the carpet and padding below the carpet. Often, without your knowing, pets will urinate continually in the same general location. Urine odors can permeate from the floor, be it cement or wood, from the tack strip, and even from the framework of the house behind the walls.

As the urine dries, the liquid evaporates but the urine crystals become even more concentrated and pungent. Simple cleaning will not remove this odor. You need professional help.

Our pet urine and odor elimination process:

1. The source and severity of the odor are determined by using a Xenon light source. Then we apply a solution designed to break up the salts contained in the urine and then rinse and extract with a hot water enzyme designed to remove the bulk of the urine crystals.

2. We then flood the affected area with a solution of live commercial-grade enzymes making sure that we have saturated the contaminated carpeting, padding, and subflooring. The enzymes are allowed to dwell for 30 minutes

3. After 30 minutes, we use a specialized tool to extract the enzyme solution from the carpeting, padding, and subflooring efficiently removing all urine salts, odor and bacteria.

4. We then clean the carpeting, as usual, using additional enzymes, cleaning solutions and steam

5. Once the carpets have been cleaned we revisit the treated areas and apply a different type of enzyme designed to consume any remaining bacteria. This process will continue to work, invisible to the customer, for a period of 7 to 10 days.

6. Our final step involves applying a light enzymatic deodorizer and then raking with a specialized carpet rake to reset the nap of the carpet.

Many over the counter store-bought products are designed to “mask” urine odor and simply do not work. Enzyme products purchased at your local grocery store or pet supply center are nowhere near as effective as those applied by a professional.

The processes described above were designed by trade professionals in association with the Carpet & Rug Institute, the IICRC, and most major carpet mills.
