Carpets Dry Within The Hour? Understand What Your Receiving For Your Money.

All reputable carpet mills include a warranty with the purchase of their carpeting and as long as the homeowner or business follows the basic guidelines to protect the textile, the manufacturer will honor their guarantee.

Lately we’ve been seeing ads advertising “carpeting dry in less than an hour,” “no moisture cleaning” and “carpet dry cleaning.” Basically many of the companies who offer these type of services are using a “bonnet” or “rotary machine” along with a powder or quick misting to surface clean your carpeting. You can always tell who these companies are because they advertise unbelievable drying times (usually less than an hour).

According to Shaw Industries, one of the nation’s largest carpet manufacturers, this type of cleaning, at best, is a “temporary appearance enhancement” because this cleaning “only absorbs at the surface and does no real extraction of deep soil.”

Bonnet cleaning, dry cleaning, spin bonnet and Host type carpet cleaning will NOT deep clean carpeting and in-fact, the use of some of these cleaning services will VOID your warranty.

A recent report published in the trade journal CleanFax (May 2016) included a sampling of some of the world’s largest textile manufacturers as to their position on the use of “bonnet” and “rotary machine” type cleaning. Their position is as follows:

Shaw – Does not advocate the use of this type cleaning because of its limited capability of soil removal. This type of cleaning may distort pile and damage the edges of some carpet tiles. May VOID warranty.

Mohawk – Mohawk does not recommend the use of a spin bonnet as it can damage the fibers of your carpeting. May VOID warranty.

Milliken – This type of cleaning is not recommended and may VOID your warranty

J&J – Spin bonnet VOIDS warranty

Interface – Use of bonnet or any other type of rotary machine is not recommended and may VOID all warranties

Tandus – Tandus does emphatically prohibit the use of all rotary machines, including Cimex triple head machines and will VOID the manufacturer’s warranty.

Major carpet mills recommend hot water extraction (steam cleaning) to clean their carpeting and to preserve the warranty. Steam cleaning, with the appropriate cleaning solutions at the hand of an experienced, certified technician will remove deep-set soil, oil, dust-mites and other allergens.

When choosing a carpet cleaning company most major carpet mills recommend choosing a company who is a Certified Provider by the international Carpet & Rug Institute or a Certified Partner with the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification who also provides hot water extraction.

Don’t invite just anyone in your home. Do your homework.

Know what your carpet manufacturer requires so that you don’t void your carpet warranty. Ask the carpet cleaner what type of cleaning system they use and if they are certified by the IICRC or the CRI. Investigate their ratings with the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s List.

Great job on carpet cleaning

I personally use True Clean for my own carpet cleaning and have recently used them to clean a client’s furniture and valences at a Condo to get rid of pet dander and they did a fantastic job.
