Top of the line companies do little to no advertising and gain most of their customers through referrals and repeat customers. All companies that fall into this category are “A” Listed with the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s List. These companies only employ certified technicians who are background checked annually.
Middle Of The Road – This company may or may not be environmentally responsible, they tend to skip or cut corners such as pre-vacuuming, speed drying or grooming carpets to save time. They dabble in water restoration and/or light construction jobs, and their employees may not be certified.
Middle of the road companies rely less on repeat or referral business and use a variety of coupons or other discount initiatives to generate business. They do not exclusively limit their service offerings to residential cleanings and can often be found cleaning restaurants and apartment complex move-outs.
Coupon Kings – Many of these companies are “start-ups,” rarely offer environmentally responsible cleanings, advertise “too good to be true pricing” in every coupon book coming and going and many also enjoy the highest number of complaints filed with the FTC and BBB.
Many of these cleaners cannot afford to hire certified technicians, do not spend financial resources educating their employees, do not perform background checks, use the cheapest cleaning solutions on the market and are often the subject of “Bait & Switch” tactics.
