Carpet Cleaning Contractors To Avoid In SW Florida

Who Are You Inviting Into Your Home?

Tru-Clean would like to remind consumers that there are thousands of carpet, tile, and upholstery cleaning companies located throughout Florida. Some deliver quality results but sadly, many do not.

How do you choose a quality company who will do what they say they’re going to do?  When it comes to online reviews, be very wary.

Many “positive” reviews are merely posts by friends, employees, and relatives of the company owner and posted to give a false impression of quality and service to deceive prospective clients. On the “negative” side, posts can be put up by disgruntled ex-employees or industry competitors who have never used a company’s services but try to discredit it with libelous or defamatory statements. This is a growing problem for Google, Yelp, Yahoo and other review sites.

Delivering high-quality results that others cannot match can lead to jealousy and underhand responses from less efficient companies.

Nowadays, anyone can create a “fake” e-mail address using any of the major search engines e-mail services and then post a review, positive or negative.  There is no oversight by the major search engines, no verification as to the accuracy of the post or reviewer, nothing.  On the other hand, reviews found on the Better Business Bureau or Angie’s List website are thoroughly vetted, and these websites have mechanisms in place to bounce “fake reviews.”  The BBB and Angie’s List will also assign a live interviewer to investigate challenged negative reviews and weed out “fake” reviews by unscrupulous sources.

The safest way to choose a quality carpet and upholstery cleaning company is to research the company thoroughly. Firstly, check out their reviews on Angie’s List, the Better Business Bureau’s free online services or ask your friends and family for recommendations.

Secondly, when narrowing your search for a quality company, verify if they have General Liability and Workers Compensation Insurance.  The company can easily provide you with proof and if they cannot on request then avoid them like the plague. If things go wrong, and one of their employees gets hurt at your home or if something is damaged or stolen, you’ll have no coverage.  An injured employee can sue YOU for medical expenses, loss of time from work, and of course, “pain and suffering.”  Moreover, what’s your recourse?  Sue the company who provided you with the service?  They can’t even afford insurance, what can you possibly expect out of them?

Next, verify that the company is certified by one of the national certification organizations such as The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) or the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  If they’re not certified, why not?  I’m not sure about you, but I wouldn’t let a non-certified mechanic, electrician or plumber perform work for me.

If they’re not certified, somethings wrong.  Could the company not pass the exams?  Are they not insured?  Do they have an unscrupulous background?  Are their employees and owners background checked?  To earn the certification of some organizations, the owners are background checked annually.

Finally, does the company give free, written estimates and an unconditional WRITTEN guarantee? If they don’t, tell them, “no thanks.”

Tru-Clean is a Certified Partner with the prestigious Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  In addition, we are A+ rated by the Better Business Bureau and a five-year-in-a-row-winner of the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award.

We encourage all consumers to investigate any contractor invited into their home thoroughly.  Quality doesn’t cost more, and in fact, can extend the life of your textiles.
