5 Mistakes to avoid when looking for Carpet Cleaning Cape Coral

These days, saving a dollar is important. Unfortunately, sometimes saving a dollar means compromising quality or service.

More people are now turning towards DIY work in order to improve the look and feel of their properties. Also, they are searching for “deals” and coupons for discounts in hiring a professional carpet cleaning or tile cleaning company.

All carpet cleaning companies are NOT the same!  In fact, many unscrupulous companies have no liability insurance in case they damage something in your home or to protect you in the event one of their employees slips and falls while on your property.

Many unscrupulous companies use cheap laundry detergents to clean customers carpets and the client is none the wiser until their carpets start to feel crunchy or resoil rapidly.

We’ve all received the “too-good-to-be-true” carpet cleaning coupons in the mail offering to clean your carpets for as low as $6.95 to $15.00 a room.  How is it that these companies can advertise such low ball rates when 99% of their competitors can’t?  Can it be “bait and switch?”

When choosing a carpet cleaner make sure to avoid these 5 Mistakes:

MISTAKE #1: Choosing a carpet cleaner based on equipment alone.

No question, your carpet cleaner needs first-rate equipment. But they also need something else. The carpet cleaning company should use environmentally responsible cleaning solutions that are allergen free and safe for small children and pets.

The technicians should be certified and not some “kid on commission.”  And you should demand proof of liability coverage in the event they damage something in your home or one of their employees gets hurt on your property.

As the homeowner chances are you have insurance and if there’s an accident on your property and the low-ball carpet cleaning company doesn’t have insurance, guess whose getting sued?

MISTAKE #2: Choosing a carpet cleaner based on low price. Low price could be a problem in three ways:

1. Low price can be the bait that attracts your phone call. But once the cleaner gets into your home, they pressure you into a much more expensive job.

2. Low price can be for single-process cleaning. Rarely does the consumer know what this means and, when told, asks for the dual-process or deep-scrub cleaning instead, which costs much more.

3. Low price can mean the carpet cleaner has cheap equipment, which will not effectively clean your carpet and they may not be insured or bonded.  Low price also could be an indicator of cheap cleaning solutions that will leave your carpeting full of residue and damp for days.

MISTAKE #3 Choosing a carpet cleaner who doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee.

In our view, every carpet cleaning company should be fully accountable for their work. And if you aren’t pleased with the job they should came back and try to make it right or you shouldn’t have to pay for it. Period!

Not all carpet cleaners offer a guarantee. Or, if they do, the guarantee may be “limited.” Ask the carpet cleaner if they offer a guarantee and will they place the guarantee in writing.

MISTAKE #4: Choosing a carpet cleaner without getting comments from their clients or reading reviews about them on Angie’s List.

Any carpet cleaner can say anything about his past jobs. And, sadly, some of what they say may not be true. Make sure you ask for references or read comments on Angie’s List from current customers so you can depend on the carpet cleaner and their work.

Any carpet cleaner that does quality work should be able to provide you with comments from their clients. Visit Angie’s List at www.angieslist.com for comments about Tru Clean.

MISTAKE #5: Choosing a carpet cleaner who is not certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). If your carpet cleaner isn’t a close friend, you may not know whether they have the knowledge or experience to clean your carpet in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. If you want to be sure you’re hiring a competent professional, make sure they’re certified.

The carpet cleaner must earn that certification through study, experience, and the successful completion of formal, written examinations. In effect, cleaners who are certified by the IICRC have earned a college degree in carpet cleaning.

In addition, membership in other professional organizations show a higher level of commitment to ongoing training and customer service.
